SURFACE IMPRESSION

Outside In was set up in 2006 by Pallant House Gallery in Chichester. It offers opportunities for marginalised “outsider” artists through a biennial open art competition.

This ambitious project is the museum’s public face while their building is being extended and redeveloped.

Blue Touch Paper Carnival is a new carnival project run by West Sussex and linked to the Carnival Learning Centre on the Isle of Wight. The website is focused on community involvement and users can participate by uploading their own content and pictures to the site.

Surface Impression built a highly accessible new site for the Jodi Awards, in good time for the deadline for 2009 nominations. We also added a database of previous winners and shortlisted organisations.

The ADA site has been developed for a consultancy specialising in diversity and access. This informative website enables the visitor to find out more about what ADA inc does, why it does it and how they may be able to make use of the skills, knowledge and experience it offers. Links to related sites Sync Leadership and Get A Plan are also available.

The Voyage is the website of UK-German Connection, a bilateral government initiative dedicated to increasing contacts, language learning and understanding between young people in the UK and Germany. The site contains a suite of sites aimed at various audiences.

The Lansdown Centre for Electronic Arts is part of Middlesex University and is in the forefront of teaching and research in areas where computing and digital technology are combined with creative activity. Particularly important to the University was the ability for them to control all aspects of content and presentation; therefore Content Curator was provided as the method of content management due to it's simplicity and ease of use.

The Latin Palaeography section of the National Archives site, created by Surface Impression, seeks to teach the skills to transcribe latin documents from their collection through the use of a set of tools and advice for palaeographers.

A simple online catalogue website for the illustrated book publisher, Myriad, internationally acclaimed for its award-winning State of the World atlas series.

Developed in conjunction with a series of leaflets, this site promotes an organisation hosting an ongoing series of events, bringing together practitioners from the world of psychoanalysis with leading practitioners from other fields.

State of the World is a blog-based survey site focusing on current events and global trends.

The Museums and Heritage Show is the UK’s leading trade exhibition for the world of museums, galleries and heritage visitor attractions.

Arts Media Contacts is a web application for arts marketing to thousands of publications and journalists all around the world. Subscribers (who include galleries, artists, museums, PR people and marketers) can build campaign lists while searching the database and then send email press releases to each campaign.

Commissioned by the River and Rowing Museum in Henley-on-Thames, this website focuses on Olympic rowing, particularly at the Olympics held in London in 1908, 1948 and the forthcoming 2012 games. Amongst other features the site includes an accessible timeline charting rowing history.

My Peak Experience is an experimental site commissioned by the Peak District National Park Authority to try to combine aspects of social networking “Web 2.0” with the outdoors appreciation of the park itself.

The Arts Council runs Artsmark, an awards scheme promoting arts in schools. This site features a clean design that is enlivened by beautiful photographs of arts activities in schools.

Surface Impression has a large body of experience in creating sites for Disability Arts – both aimed at practitioners and at the wider arts world. Accessible websites for Sync Leadership, Get a Plan, Architecture Inside Out, Discursive Spaces and Disability Arts Online have been developed.

Discursive Spaces is a project under the Inside Out umbrella that brings together architecture departments at universities, their students and deaf and disabled artists.

The Great Grub Club is an educational site containing interactives aimed at younger children to promote healthy eating and exercise. It has been created for the World Cancer Research Fund, an international charity that encourages healthy lifestyles as a means to prevent cancer occurring.

The Tobacco Atlas Online is based on the latest edition of the highly-acclaimed The Tobacco Atlas by Drs Judith Mackay, Michael Eriksen and Omar Shafey. It consists of interactive maps, aiming to communicate information about global issues relating to tobacco simply and quickly.

Renaissance West Midlands comissioned Surface Impression to design and build a website for professionals working in the region's museums. The use of Content Curator was hugely beneficial in this project.

Initally, Surface Impression's CMS, Content Curator was used to "capture" and develop the content of the Moving Here Schools sub site for the National Archives. Since then we have also developed a series of learning activity interactives.

This is a series of online learning resources and an encompassing site that we developed for the West Midlands Hub of Museums.

This interactive e-learning site was produced for Letchworth Museum's natural history section. It is targeted at young children (year one pupils).
